Pakistan's Supreme Court has postponed the bail appeal hearing of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to August 12, in connection with the violence that transpired on May 9. The decision came after the Lahore High Court previously dismissed Khan's bail requests.
Khan, who was arrested by paramilitary forces at the Islamabad High Court, is facing numerous charges of inciting attacks on government and military properties. His legal counsel sought an adjournment due to the absence of lead lawyer Salman Safdar.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui postponed the hearing as Barrister Salman Akram Raja presented the request, also asking for notices to be dispatched to all concerned parties. Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, remains in Adiala Jail on separate corruption charges.
