In a shocking turn of events, two teenage boys have been accused of the murder of a 76-year-old woman in Maharashtra's Raigad district, police reported on Tuesday. The alleged crime took place on July 24 in Kanghar village, Mhasala.

The suspects, aged 16 and 17, had reportedly entered the home of the victim, Shevantabai Rane, under the pretense of repairing her television. According to an official statement, one of the boys restrained Rane, while the other smothered her, leading to her tragic death. They allegedly fled with her earrings.

Following a complaint from Rane's son, the authorities registered a case of murder and robbery. The accused have been detained and sent to a remand home in Karjat as investigations continue.
