The Goa Excise Department is conducting a thorough investigation into a truck fire incident that has stirred the state assembly. The vehicle, which bore a Nagaland registration number, caught fire on the national highway in Dhargal village, near the Goa-Maharashtra border.
AAP MLAs raised concerns, claiming the truck was involved in smuggling liquor out of Goa. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the assembly that if the inquiry links the vehicle to any distillery involved in illegal activities, stern action, including suspension of officials and sealing of premises, will be executed.
Sawant highlighted efforts by the Goa Police to collaborate with Nagaland authorities to gather information about the truck driver. He also suggested that the truck might not have entered Goa from outside, refuting some claims.
