An Indian-origin officer at Singapore's immigration department has admitted guilt to accepting bribes in the form of sexual favors from six Indian nationals in exchange for extending their short-term visit passes, a local media outlet reported.

Kannan Morice Rajagopal Jayaram, 55, was serving as an inspector with Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). His offenses, spanning 2022 to 2023, came to public attention as he pleaded guilty to three out of six corruption charges.

Scheduled for sentencing in August 2025, Jayaram allegedly misused his authority to exploit vulnerable applicants, including a 26-year-old Indian student. He has been suspended since April 2023, following these allegations.
