In a troubling incident over the weekend, at least a dozen homes in the Hindu community of northwestern Bangladesh were damaged by a mob, according to official sources and media reports.
Following allegations against a 17-year-old for making derogatory remarks about the Prophet on social media, violent clashes erupted, resulting in property damage in the region of Gangachara, Rangpur. The teenager, now in custody, faces charges stemming from the offensive post.
The interim government, under Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, has mandated repairs for affected households, with local authorities collaborating to restore peace and pursue those responsible for the violence.
