A 17-year-old boy attacked a police Sub Inspector with a sharp weapon in Pappakudi, sparking a dramatic confrontation that ended with the teenager being shot, according to police reports. Both the officer and the teen were hospitalized following the incident.
Reports indicate that the teenagers targeted S Sakthikumar, presumably for informing authorities about their criminal activities. The police intervened as the assault escalated, but faced resistance from the juveniles, leading the SI to fire in self-defense. A police statement confirmed the involvement of a bullet wound in subduing one of the suspects.
AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami drew attention to this episode, citing it as an example of deteriorating law and order, exacerbated by the widespread drug issues affecting youth. He criticized the current government, calling for a change to ensure better safety and order in Tamil Nadu.
