Heist in Avsanganj: Jeweller Robbed at Gunpoint

In a shocking incident, two unidentified motorcycle-borne men allegedly robbed a jeweller of precious gold and silver items valued at Rs 15 lakh in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, police reported on Tuesday.
The brazen heist took place Monday night in the Avsanganj market, roughly 60 kilometers from the district headquarters. Ramesh, a jeweller originally hailing from Bihar and currently residing in Avsaganj, was walking home with his bag full of ornaments after closing his shop, when he was intercepted by the armed assailants, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Rai.
Brandishing a country-made pistol, the robbers allegedly snatched the bag from Ramesh. Despite his efforts to resist, he was overpowered and assaulted before the culprits fled the scene. The police, who quickly established checkposts to nab the offenders, have registered a case against the unidentified suspects and are investigating further.
