K Kavitha, the BRS MLC and president of Telangana Jagruthi, announced a 72-hour fast starting August 4. Her objective is to pressurize both the Congress government in the state and the NDA government at the Centre to approve bills proposing 42% quotas for Backward Classes.
Kavitha emphasized the fast's intent to spotlight the necessity of passing the BC bill. She recounted her previous 72-hour fast advocating for a Babasaheb Ambedkar statue during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era.
State Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar revealed plans to engage the President for approval of these bills. Efforts include rallying national-level support, with key Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge also seeking presidential appointments.
