The Delhi High Court is considering jailed MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh's appeal for interim bail to attend the parliamentary Monsoon session. The court suggests a different bench should review Rashid's challenge to a trial court order demanding hefty travel expenses for attending the session. Rashid's ongoing legal struggles include a pending regular bail application.

The Delhi High Court is set to hear jailed MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh's plea for interim bail on July 31, as he seeks permission to attend the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament. This decision follows Rashid's challenge against a trial court order requiring him to cover significant travel expenses while attending Parliament sessions.
Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Mini Pushkarna indicated a preference to redirect Rashid's plea to a bench familiar with similar cases, emphasizing the need for judicial consistency. Justice Chaudhary reasoned that a past decision by a division bench should guide future cases concerning parliamentary attendance under similar circumstances.
Currently imprisoned since 2019 in Delhi's Tihar Jail on charges of terror funding, Rashid contends that excessive travel costs hinder his parliamentary duties. The special custody parole he received to attend the session is conditioned on him bearing the travel costs, a contentious requirement Rashid aims to waive in his pursuit of justice.
