The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is grappling with a staffing crisis, with 541 out of 1,901 sanctioned positions currently vacant, as reported to the Lok Sabha.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, revealed that essential roles like Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Assistant Sub Inspectors are among the unfilled positions.

Even with these vacancies, the NIA has registered 677 cases by June 2025 and maintains an impressive conviction rate of 97.43%, demonstrating its operational effectiveness amid staffing shortages.
