The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has allocated a 1,540 square metre parcel of land to the Delhi Police for developing a permanent domestic airport police station at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport-Terminal-1. Officials reported this significant development on Tuesday.
Replacing the current temporary facility, the new police station aims to improve accessibility, streamline operations, and enhance safety and coordination mechanisms for travelers and airport stakeholders. The formal handover ceremony witnessed the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.
The site, strategically situated next to the ARC Officers' Mess and the CISF naka, will be leased at a nominal fee of Re 1 per annum. Officials regard this as a notable milestone, resolving a longstanding proposal dating back to 2008, thereby reinforcing the law enforcement presence at one of India's busiest domestic air terminals.
