In a fiery session at the Rajya Sabha, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded accountability from Home Minister Amit Shah over the security lapses leading to the Pahalgam terror attack. Kharge urged the government to fix accountability and suggested Shah should step down if found responsible.
Kharge's critique extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence regarding US President Donald Trump's claims of mediating a ceasefire with Pakistan. The Congress leader argued that India's strategic interests remain insecure, questioning the terms of the ceasefire and the government's foreign policy maneuvers with Pakistan.
Accusing the Modi government of arrogance, Kharge demanded transparency in addressing security threats and called for the publication of a report akin to the post-Kargil War review. He emphasized the need for the government to draw lessons from repeated intelligence failures, such as those highlighted in Pahalgam and other terror incidents.
