The Nagaland government is poised for a pivotal cabinet meeting on Wednesday, aimed at tackling the longstanding demand for establishing the Frontier Nagaland Territory, according to Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton.

This follows the recent third Tripartite High-Level Committee meeting in New Delhi. Key stakeholders included Ministry of Home Affairs officials, the Nagaland government, and Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) representatives, who have been advocating for a separate state since 2010. Patton remarked, 'We have a cabinet meeting tomorrow, and we shall discuss the matter thoroughly, including talks with ENPO leaders.'

During the New Delhi meeting, several issues were resolved, though some remain in discussion. The central government has tasked Nagaland with addressing these within two weeks. The ENPO, representing eight tribes across six districts, suspended its separate statehood demand in April, showing openness to autonomy under the Frontier Nagaland Territory framework.
