The Bombay High Court has decided against quashing a legal case involving a Pune school teacher accused of posting derogatory messages and images on a WhatsApp group. These posts followed the Indian Army's Operation Sindoor.
The woman in question allegedly shared a video depicting the Indian national flag burning and mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her society's all-women group. A judicial bench indicated that her comments revealed a clear 'mens rea,' suggesting intent to commit a criminal act, thus warranting a detailed investigation.
The court dismissed the teacher's plea against the FIR filed by Kalepadal police, citing that her actions caused profound damage despite her apology and job loss. The bench emphasized the expected responsibility of educated individuals in sharing potentially harmful online content.
