Andhra Pradesh's commitment to modernization continues with the distribution of over 1.4 crore smart ration cards. Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar stated that these cards, set for release between August 25 and 31, are designed to bring significant improvements in security and accountability.
The initiative involves replacing traditional ration cards with smart ones, akin to debit or credit cards. These cards include the family head's photograph, family members' names, and a QR code connected to a central transaction tracking system, ensuring transparency. Notably, no images of political leaders will be present on these cards.
Ration distribution timings are scheduled from 8 am to noon and 4 pm to 8 pm from the 1st to the 15th of each month, while home delivery services will be available from the 26th to the 30th for eligible recipients.
