A tragic incident unfolded in Chhattisgarh's Korba district as a couple and their son are feared dead following the collapse of a newly dug well near their home. Initial reports indicate that 65-year-old Chheduram Srivas, his wife Kanchan Bai, and their 30-year-old son Govind went missing, suspected to be trapped under debris.
The tragedy occurred on the night between Monday and Tuesday in Banwar village, under the jurisdiction of Katghora police station. The family had excavated a 38-foot-deep well adjacent to their residence two months earlier, and their whereabouts became unknown after the well caved in, causing widespread concern.
Authorities launched a rescue operation on Tuesday, with personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and local administration working together. Water is being pumped out and debris removed in hopes of reaching the family. The discovery of footwear near the site strengthened suspicions that the trio is trapped below.
