Political Turmoil Intensifies as Maxwell Refuses to Testify Without Immunity
A Republican-led committee rejected Ghislaine Maxwell's request for immunity in exchange for her testimony regarding the late Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell, convicted of aiding Epstein's abuse, seeks clemency while pushing for the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn her conviction. The issue intertwines with controversies involving President Trump.

In a high-stakes political climate, a Republican-led congressional committee has denied Ghislaine Maxwell's plea for immunity to testify regarding the scandal-ridden Jeffrey Epstein case. Maxwell, currently serving a prison sentence for assisting Epstein in his heinous crimes, had been subpoenaed to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Maxwell's lawyer, David Markus, argued that his client should not risk further criminal repercussions without formal immunity in what he described as a 'politically charged environment.' The committee, however, rejected the request, maintaining it would not entertain the notion of immunity for her testimony.
While Maxwell appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse her conviction, President Trump has dismissed the idea of a pardon. With Democrats demanding transparency, questions persist regarding Trump's prior associations with Epstein and the administration's handling of sensitive records related to the case.
