Authorities in Thane, Maharashtra, have made significant strides in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking by seizing 2.184 kg of the synthetic stimulant mephedrone, valued at ₹3.97 crore. This decisive action led to the arrest of two individuals connected to the illegal trade.

In the first operation, conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Squad on July 27, police apprehended Irfan Amanullah Sheikh, a food delivery agent, in possession of 1.522 kg of mephedrone. The bust took place near Diva village following a strategic tip-off, resulting in Sheikh's arrest and subsequent court-ordered police custody.

In a related effort, the Crime Branch Unit-1 intercepted Shahrukh Sattar Mewasi, a mason from Madhya Pradesh, on July 24. This operation yielded 662 grams of the drug. Both cases underscore law enforcement's commitment to tackling narcotics at all levels, as they continue to trace the broader supply chain.
