In a concerning case of fraud, a Navi Mumbai woman was allegedly deceived out of Rs 1 lakh by three con artists promising a foreign currency exchange. The incident, reported by the local police on Wednesday, highlights the risks involved in unofficial currency transactions.

The 38-year-old victim, an eatery owner in Navi Mumbai's Kopri village, was approached over the phone with assurances of receiving USD 1,600 in return for her Rs 1 lakh. On Monday, she handed over the money to the perpetrators at her eatery, only for them to abscond without fulfilling their promise.

A First Information Report has been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities are currently analyzing CCTV footage and tracing the suspect's phone number, urging the public to remain vigilant against such scams.
