The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has delivered a decisive verdict, awarding a compensation of Rs 64.73 lakh to the family of Premdas Chindhu Jadhav, a 48-year-old sanitation worker tragically killed in a road accident in 2021.

MACT member R V Mohite ruled that the responsibility for the compensation rests with the owner of the offending truck and its insurance company. The tribunal cited evidence that the driver was operating the vehicle in a reckless manner, with excessive speed, contributing to the fatal incident.

In the proceedings, the tribunal acknowledged Jadhav's position as a permanent employee of the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation, aligning his compensation with benefits under the 7th Pay Commission. This verdict underscores the accountability of vehicle owners and insurers in traffic-related fatalities.
