The Haryana Human Rights Commission has initiated a serious inquiry into the tragic death of four children due to a wall collapse in Hisar last December. The catastrophe occurred at a brick kiln in Budana village and injured three other minors.
Brought to the commission by a human rights activist, the incident revealed dire living situations for migrant laborers' families from Uttar Pradesh. The commission, led by Justice Lalit Batra, criticized the lack of fundamental human rights for these laborers, casting a spotlight on possible bonded labor.
Underlining the incident's preventability, the commission indicted legal and administrative failures. Notably, the brick kiln owner faces inquiries regarding worker safety provisions, with the next hearing scheduled for October 14 to ensure accountability and justice.
