China and U.S. Aim to Extend Tariff Truce After Productive Talks

In the wake of high-level trade discussions in Sweden, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed hopes that the United States will cooperate with China to promote sustainable development in their bilateral relationship. The ministry emphasized the importance of dialogue and communication in achieving this goal.
During a routine press briefing, ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted the necessity for both nations to strengthen their consensus and minimize misunderstandings. This statement followed requests for more details regarding the recent talks in Stockholm, which concluded on Tuesday.
Both U.S. and Chinese officials have agreed to seek an extension of the current 90-day tariff truce. The decision came after two days of positive discussions, which both parties described as constructive, aimed at easing the trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.
