In response to increasing anxiety over potential nighttime drone activities, the Meerut Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kalanidhi Naithani, has issued a stern warning against unauthorized drone operations. The statement came amidst reports of alleged drone sightings in rural areas, sparking alarm among locals.
The DIG dismissed claims that drones are being used by thieves, emphasizing the significant risks they pose to security and privacy. Naithani urged residents to avoid flying drones for entertainment and warned of strict legal consequences for those operating drones illegally or spreading false rumors.
To control drone activity in the region, the DIG has mandated the creation of a drone register at every police station and instructed that all drone owners be recorded. Moreover, actions will be taken against individuals found operating drones during the night.
