Navi Mumbai Police have taken legal action against five companies and nine associated individuals, including chemical firm management, accused of misusing subsidised agricultural urea for industrial purposes. Officials disclosed this case on Wednesday.

The action followed a complaint by a Quality Control Inspector after inspecting businesses in the Turbhe industrial belt.

According to a police official, preliminary findings revealed that these companies fraudulently acquired neem-coated subsidised urea intended for agriculture and repurposed it for industrial processing, contravening established regulations.

The involved parties allegedly conspired to exploit agricultural subsidies for illicit industrial benefits.

The FIR has been filed under sections 318(4) for cheating and 3(5) for common intention of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alongside the Essential Commodities Act, Fertiliser Control Order, and Fertiliser Movement Control Order. No arrests have been made at this stage.
