The Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has ordered a compensation of approximately Rs 31.48 lakh to the family of a 48-year-old man, Arun Kumar, who tragically lost his life in a road accident in 2021. The presiding officer, Ajay Kumar Jain, ruled on the case during a recent hearing.

The verdict came after a thorough investigation which showed that Arun Kumar was hit by a motorcycle driven recklessly on the Mahipalpur flyover on August 22, 2021. The tribunal found no evidence to suggest any contributory negligence on the part of the victim.

Adjudicating the claim, the court relied on the account of an eyewitness and police investigations that highlighted the negligent driving as the cause of the accident. ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited has been instructed to pay the awarded amount covering various compensation heads, including loss of dependency and love and affection.
