China Pushes for Cooperation With US Amidst Trade Tensions

On Wednesday, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi advocated for deeper engagement with the United States, warning against the dangers of confrontation between these two major powers. The call for cooperation was made during a meeting with U.S. business executives, including representatives from Goldman Sachs, Boeing, and Apple, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.

Wang's comments coincided with the conclusion of the latest round of trade talks in Stockholm, where both countries agreed to extend their 90-day tariff truce initiated in May. Highlighting the influence of China-U.S. relations on global affairs, he said, "China and the U.S. need to establish more channels of communication" and urged the rejection of "unilateralism and bullying."

This high-level dialogue comes as both nations prepare for a possible summit between President Trump and President Xi Jinping later this year, likely during the APEC forum in South Korea. The discussions aim to boost confidence in U.S. investments in China and underscore the critical need for strategic perception and pragmatic engagement between the two economies.
