In a break for urban security, police in Delhi's CR Park foiled an attempted theft of telecom cables, arresting two individuals involved in the overnight operation. The accused, identified as Sameer (19) and Amit (30), were apprehended while reportedly using heavy machinery to dig up and steal underground cables.
Authorities intervened when patrols noticed unusual activity near a local school, where the team found a group utilizing a JCB machine to extract cables worth an estimated Rs 8 to 10 lakh. Though many accomplices fled, the prompt police action led to significant seizures, including a truck loaded with the stolen assets.
Both government officials and police are pursuing broader inquiries into whether this theft is linked to a larger pattern of similar heists in the region. Efforts continue to track and capture remaining suspects as the city grapples with repeated incidents of cable theft.
