Maharashtra's Historic Move: Property Cards for Sindhi Families Announced
Maharashtra's government will provide property cards to five lakh Sindhi community members across 35 towns excluding Ulhasnagar. This initiative fulfills a BJP election promise, addressing ownership issues since the 1947 partition. Ulhasnagar will have a separate policy as it houses the largest Sindhi population.

The Maharashtra government has announced a landmark decision to distribute property cards to five lakh Sindhi community members across 35 towns and cities, excluding Ulhasnagar. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule made the announcement, tying it to a previous electoral promise by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
This move aims to address a long-standing issue of property ownership faced by the Sindhi community, who migrated to India following the 1947 partition. Despite promises, many still lack official property documents, a situation the state aims to rectify.
Ulhasnagar, however, will not be included in this decision. Possessing the highest concentration of Sindhis in Maharashtra, a separate policy is in the pipeline, the minister assured, signaling attention to the unique demographics of the city.
