A Swedish national, Osama Krayem, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Stockholm court for his involvement in the brutal murder of Jordanian Air Force pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh, who was burned alive in Syria a decade ago.
This ruling follows Krayem's previous convictions related to attacks in Paris in 2015 and Brussels in 2016. The Islamic State group, responsible for the execution, held large regions in Iraq and Syria until 2017.
The court found that despite another man lighting the fatal fire, Krayem played an active role in the killing. His Swedish lawyer has yet to comment on the verdict.
