Three individuals in Maharashtra's Raigad district are facing charges for allegedly insulting a 63-year-old Dalit woman and siphoning off nearly Rs 1 crore. According to a police official, the incident involved the creation of fake documents and obstruction of a social welfare organization.
The accused, Ramkrishna Patil from Jalgaon and Yuvraj and Amol Baisane from Dhule, reportedly made illegal decisions in collaboration to embezzle the funds. Ulwa police station's senior inspector, Arjun Rajane, disclosed that the case was filed following a complaint from the victim.
The complaint details allegations of caste-based insults and social and financial boycotting of the woman. Charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and forgery, under the Indian Penal Code and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, have been filed. The accused remain at large as investigations continue.
