Acquittal in Malegaon Blast Case: A Blow to 'Saffron Terrorism' Narrative
Senior BJP leader Raghubar Das criticized Congress for promoting the 'saffron terrorism' theory, following the acquittal of seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Nearly 17 years after the blast, a special court found no reliable evidence against them. Das demanded answers from Congress for defaming Hindus and falsely implicating individuals.

In a significant development, the long-standing narrative of 'saffron terrorism' took a hit as all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case were acquitted by a special Mumbai court. Former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit were among those cleared of charges.
Raghubar Das, a senior BJP leader, expressed his condemnation of Congress, highlighting that the acquittal serves as a mark against the previous government's alleged misdeeds. Das underscored the lack of 'reliable and cogent evidence' as a basis for the judgment, which arrived almost 17 years after the Malegaon tragedy claimed six lives.
The verdict comes amid heightened political discourse, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently asserting that 'Hindus can never be terrorists.' As the debate continues, Das demanded accountability from Congress for their alleged role in defaming the Hindu community for perceived electoral gains.
