Trump Pushes for Peace: August 8 Deadline for Russia-Ukraine War Deal

U.S. President Donald Trump is adamant about reaching a peace agreement to conclude Russia's war in Ukraine by August 8, as conveyed by the United States to the United Nations Security Council on Thursday.

Senior U.S. diplomat John Kelley asserted that lasting peace requires both Russia and Ukraine to negotiate a ceasefire immediately. As tensions rise, President Trump has threatened to introduce tariffs and other measures on Russia if no progress is made in ten days.

Despite meetings in Istanbul and exchanged prisoners, the conflict has not eased. Ukraine's deputy U.N. Ambassador emphasizes the necessity of unity and a full ceasefire as the first step towards ending Russia's aggression.
