Daya Nayak, the Assistant Commissioner of Police synonymous with the term 'encounter specialist,' has retired after a distinguished 30-year career. Known for his decisive actions, Nayak is credited with eliminating over 80 gangsters during his service.
Pivotal in solving major cases, including the Antilia explosives incident involving industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence, Nayak's reputation precedes him. Just two days before his retirement, Nayak was promoted to ACP, following his effective tenure as a senior inspector at the Bandra unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Though he faced several transfers, notably in 2021 and 2019, interventions by the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal and government retained his presence in key task forces. Nayak's legacy within the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad is formidable, marking the end of an impactful law enforcement career.
