Arif Masood, a Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday urged the Maharashtra government to appeal the recent acquittal of individuals, including ex-Bhopal MP Pragya Thakur, in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The appeal would mirror the government's move in the 7/11 Mumbai blasts case.
Masood highlighted the similarities between both cases, emphasizing that news reports indicated the Malegaon blast accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence. He expressed concern over the consistency of such decisions.
Family members of the Malegaon blast victims intend to challenge the special NIA court's verdict in Mumbai. Their lawyer, Shahid Nadeem, criticized the National Investigation Agency for not pursuing perjury charges against witnesses who became hostile during the trial.
