A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district with the arrest of a 24-year-old man accused of murdering his 86-year-old grandmother. The motive behind the crime was revealed to be a dispute over the man's online gaming addiction, police reported on Thursday.
Sriganganagar SP Amrita Duhan stated that the accused, Manish Chugh, confessed to strangling his grandmother, Draupadi Devi, with a towel on July 24. Chugh initially sought to mislead investigators by filing a false report claiming robbery and murder by unidentified individuals.
Chugh's addiction reportedly put him in severe debt, losing several lakhs of rupees. On the day of the crime, he experienced another loss of Rs 15,000. After being reprimanded by his grandmother, he killed her in a fit of rage and fled with cash and jewellery, police revealed.
