In a notable legal development, the Jharkhand High Court has imposed a hefty Rs 25 lakh fine on a petitioner for filing a frivolous plea. The case, concerning the construction of a septic tank, was brought forward by Lilavati Devi.

Devi had initially lodged complaints with the Ranchi Municipal Corporation, which, after a detailed survey, instructed the demolition of the controversial septic tank. However, instead of resolving her grievances through the municipal body, Devi opted to escalate the matter to the high court.

This decision resulted in the court deeming her petition as unnecessary, leading to the significant financial penalty.
