In a significant revelation, Mehiboob Mujawar, a former inspector with Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), alleged he was instructed to apprehend RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. The alleged motive was to establish the notion of 'saffron terror', a claim Mujawar made following the acquittal of seven individuals in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.
Mujawar, who voiced his claims in Solapur, stated that the trial court's recent verdict has highlighted the alleged manipulations by the ATS during their initial investigation, which was later transferred to the National Investigation Agency. The retired officer emphasized the orders he received were impractical, citing his own decision not to act on them.
According to Mujawar, the orders included names of prominent individuals and pointed to a fabricated narrative of 'saffron terrorism'. He alleged a subsequent false case against him effectively ended his four-decade-long career, asserting he holds documentary proof to support his claims.
