Devastating Dawn: Kyiv Under Siege
Russia launched missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, killing at least 14, including a child, and injuring over 100. Ukraine President Zelenskiy confirmed the death toll, urging peace negotiations. Moscow intensified airstrikes away from frontlines, with targets including a military-industrial complex. The conflict persists despite partial peace talks in Istanbul.

Before dawn on Thursday, a surge of missiles and drones launched by Russia devastated Kyiv, resulting in at least 14 deaths, including a six-year-old boy, and over 100 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in his nighttime address, confirmed the fatalities and ongoing rescue efforts.
Ukraine's national rescue service cited a higher death toll of 15 with 145 injured, noting it as the largest number of children injured in a single attack since the war's escalation over three years ago. President Zelenskiy emphasized that peace requires strength, condemning Russia's aggression as a response to Ukraine's peace aspirations.
The Russian Defence Ministry claimed its strikes targeted Ukrainian military airfields and related businesses. As Kyiv faced a night of explosions, rescue operations stretched into Thursday with officials announcing a day of mourning. Despite talks in Istanbul, achieving a sustainable ceasefire remains elusive, leaving the world watching for a de-escalation.
