London's Court of Appeal has put an end to efforts to revive a massive $1.71 billion lawsuit against British telecommunications giant BT. The lawsuit alleged that BT had overcharged millions of its customers for fixed telephone lines.

This follows a decision in December by the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), which ruled in favor of BT, setting aside allegations of excessive pricing against the former telecommunications monopoly.

Justin Le Patourel, representing around 3.7 million BT customers, sought permission from the Court of Appeal to challenge the Tribunal's decision, but his attempt was rejected, closing this chapter in the legal battle. ($1 = 0.7598 pounds)
