In a landmark decision, a Special Court convicted former MP and suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna on Friday in one of the four sexual abuse cases filed against him. This verdict marks a significant turn in the controversial legal proceedings.
Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was found guilty of raping a 48-year-old domestic worker at his family's farmhouse in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, and at their Bangalore residence in 2021. Notably, the accused recorded the acts on his mobile phone.
The court, accepting the prosecution's evidence presented by Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Nayak, will decide the quantum of punishment on Saturday. This case also led to Revanna's suspension from the JD(S) and comes amid other legal troubles for the ex-politician.
