Commissioned into the 4th Battalion of The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in December 1987, Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh is known for his exceptional combat leadership and operational foresight. His early career included participation in multiple landmark operations:

• Operation Pawan (Sri Lanka Peacekeeping Mission)

• Operation Meghdoot (Siachen Glacier deployment)

• Operation Orchid (Counter-insurgency in Northeast India)

• Multiple tenures in Operation Rakshak (Counter-terrorism in J&K)

Command Experience in Critical Sectors

Over the course of his 38-year career, Lt Gen Singh has commanded units in India’s most volatile and high-altitude theatres:

• Commanded a Special Forces unit in the Kashmir Valley and along the Line of Control (LoC)

• Led an Infantry Brigade during a critical phase of counter-insurgency

• Commanded a Mountain Division in Operation Snow Leopard along the Line of Actual Control (LAC)—India’s front-line defence zone amid border tensions with China

• As General Officer Commanding (GOC) of a strategically located Corps in Himachal Pradesh, he oversaw areas including Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot, regions crucial for national security

His operational exposure on both Western (Pakistan-facing) and Northern (China-facing) borders gives him a comprehensive understanding of India's geostrategic realities.
