An Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer vehemently denied allegations of cruelty and negligence leveled against him by his wife and expressed his resolve to contest the charges till the end. Speaking to reporters outside the Mahila police station, he drew parallels with the tragic case of Atul Subhash, a Bengaluru software engineer who committed suicide under alleged harassment by his wife.
The officer, embroiled in this domestic dispute, appeared in response to a police notice after his government-engineer wife filed a complaint under sections of the BNS and Dowry Prevention Act. He refuted her accusations and claimed that he himself faced harassment from his wife for caring for his widowed mother.
The officer described his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities, highlighting his vigil by his wife's side during childbirth and refuting claims of abandonment. He expressed apprehension about visiting his newborn due to fears of further conflict and stated his willingness to seek custody through formal legal channels.
