In a significant crackdown, Jharkhand police seized a consignment of India-made foreign liquor worth approximately Rs one crore in the Palamu district. Acting on intelligence, officers intercepted the container vehicle on National Highway 98 on its route to Bihar.
Upon inspection, police discovered 1,068 cartons, equating to an estimated 34,680 bottles of liquor, concealed within the container. The seizure was made under the jurisdiction of Nawabazar police station, where Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Kumar Yadav led the operation.
The vehicle's driver and helper, unable to provide valid documentation for the cargo, were subsequently arrested. Officials have registered the case under relevant sections of the Jharkhand Excise Act. This action underscores ongoing efforts to curb illegal alcohol distribution in the region.
