From 2020 to 2024, 5,541 Indian nationals were returned from the US. The UK saw 311 deportees during the same period, with numbers including the current year's tally at 131. Singh provided a breakdown revealing that most deportees hailed from Punjab and Haryana.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has raised serious concerns with the US regarding the treatment of deportees. Emphasis was placed on issues like the use of shackles, and cultural sensitivities involving turbans and dietary preferences were discussed, aiming for improved conditions during deportation procedures.
