The Special Investigation Team (SIT) delving into the reported mass burial case in Dharmasthala continued exhumations on Saturday, targeting the ninth site as identified by an anonymous complainant, police have reported.
Officials arrived at the designated area near the Nethravathi riverbank along the Ujire-Dharmasthala-Kokkada state highway (SH-73) around 11:30 AM, persisting with their excavation efforts for the fifth consecutive day.
The investigation, sparked by claims from a former sanitation worker, remains heavily secured, preventing public access, while traffic on the nearby highway operates as usual. Skeletal remains from previous sites have been sent for forensic analysis as the probe deepens.
