The Andhra Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has launched the Annadatha Sukhibhava scheme, infusing Rs 7,000 each into the accounts of 47 lakh farmers. This initiative is a part of a broader scheme to provide Rs 20,000 financial aid per annum to farming families.
Kick-starting the Rs 3,174 crore scheme, Naidu handed over cheques symbolizing the initiative in a ceremonial event held at East Veerayapalem village in Prakasam district. The scheme combines contributions of Rs 5,000 from the state and Rs 2,000 from the central government under the PM-Kisan initiative.
This program is part of Naidu's 'Super Six' poll promises aiming to foster development in Andhra Pradesh, including ambitious projects like the Polavaram Project and the interlinking of rivers, alongside addressing the challenges posed by increased American tariffs on Indian aquaculture products.
