Delhi Police Curb Crime Wave with Arrests of Notorious Pickpocket Gang
Delhi Police dismantled a notorious pickpocket gang with the arrest of five members, recovering 23 stolen smartphones. The suspects, from Uttar Pradesh, committed thefts in crowded Delhi areas, fleeing back to evade capture. Investigations revealed prior criminal records for three of the accused.

In a significant crackdown on theft in the capital, Delhi Police have dismantled a notorious gang of pickpockets following the arrest of five suspects. Among those apprehended was a man found in possession of stolen mobile phones, leading to the recovery of 23 stolen smartphones, according to an official report released Saturday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ankit, 23; Amit, also known as Pirrah, 23; Manish, also known as Chhotu, 24; Karan, 23; and Arun, known as Gayle, 28. All are residents of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. They reportedly traveled to Delhi via local trains and buses, targeting crowded places such as metro stations and markets for their thefts, before returning to their village to evade arrest.
A significant lead came when a case was registered on July 20, following the theft of an Apple iPhone. Subsequent interrogations and raids led to notable arrests and further recoveries. Police have noted the habitual nature of the accused's offenses, reflected in prior criminal records and additional legal charges.
