An altercation between a senior Army officer and SpiceJet ground staff at Srinagar airport on July 26 turned violent, resulting in serious injuries. Four staff members were assaulted after asking the officer to pay for excess baggage. The incident led to severe injuries including a spinal fracture.
The officer carried cabin baggage exceeding the 7-kilogram limit, prompting staff intervention. Upon refusing to pay, the officer forcefully moved past security protocols. SpiceJet has filed an FIR and seeks to place him on a no-fly list, adhering to aviation regulations.
CCTV footage captures the altercation, and officials have been notified, including a plea to the civil aviation ministry for further actions. SpiceJet condemned the assault, vowing to see the case to its legal endpoint.
