CBI Nabs Customs Superintendent for Rs 10.20 Lakh Bribe Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a customs superintendent stationed at Mumbai's Sahar airport under allegations of accepting a bribe totaling Rs 10.20 lakh. Official sources on Sunday confirmed the arrest, which stems from a broader investigation into bribery allegations.
Krishan Kumar, the accused officer, reportedly demanded a fee of Rs 10 per kg to facilitate the clearance of imported goods. The CBI revealed that Kumar had threatened a customs agent who refused to comply with his bribe demands and subsequently withheld shipments.
The CBI, after covertly verifying the allegations between July 25 and August 1 utilizing gathered conversations and evidence, successfully trapped Kumar accepting the bribe and subsequently presented him in court. A special court in Mumbai has remanded him until August 6 as the investigation continues.
