A relative of a notable Muslim Youth League leader, P K Bujair, has been detained following accusations of assaulting a police officer during a drug-related inquiry. The incident took place at a bus waiting area in Choolamvayal, as confirmed by law enforcement officials on Sunday.
Bujair, the brother of MYL state general secretary P K Firos, was apprehended on Saturday evening after allegedly attacking a civil police officer from the Kunnamangalam station. He faces charges under Sections 132 and 121(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which concern assaulting a public servant and hindering their duties.
In response to the arrest, Firos expressed his decision not to involve himself in the legal process, emphasizing that if his brother is guilty, he must face the ramifications. This statement comes amidst growing political criticism of the case.
